Θεραπευτική Ενδοσκόπηση

O Δρ. Θωμαΐδης είναι αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής στο Johannes Gutenberg Universität της πόλης Mainz στην Γερμανία.  Εκτός από ενεργό διδακτικό έργο στους φοιτητές της Ιατρικής στο εν λόγω πανεπιστήμιο, ο Δρ. Θωμαΐδης επιδεικνύει πλούσιο ερευνητικό και συγγραφικό έργο με δημοσιεύσεις σε διεθνή περιοδικά.

Το κύριο του ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον συνίσταται στην ογκολογία του πεπτικού και ιδιαίτερα στην ανάδειξη νέων βιοδεικτών (biomarkers) καθώς και στις νέες εξελιγμένες ενδοσκοπικές τεχνικές.

Έχει τιμηθεί με το βραβείο Walter-Krienitz της Γερμανίας για την έρευνα του στον γαστρικό καρκίνο, ενώ το ερευνητικό του έργο έχει λάβει βραβεία "poster" και "travel grants" σε πανευρωπαϊκό και πανγερμανικό επίπεδο.

Ο Δρ. Θωμαΐδης διατελεί ενεργό ρόλο ως ομιλητής και πρόεδρος σε συνέδρια παγκοσμίου εμβέλειας (DDW, UEGW, DGVS κ.α) ενώ από τον Νοέμβριο του 2019 εκτελεί χρέη γενικού γραμματέα της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας Ογκολογίας Πεπτικού.

Επίσης συμμετέχει σε πολλές διεθνείς κλινικές μελέτες με θέμα την γαστροεντερολογική ογκολογία καθώς και ως εκπαιδευτής (instructor) στις νέες εξελιγμένες τεχνικές της ελάχιστα επεμβατικής ενδοσκόπησης.
